I'm Dr. Catherine Svehla, an independent scholar and consultant in the field of mythology, an artist and outdoorswoman, a lover of the Mysteries and mentor in the mythic life.

My work sits at the intersection of mythology, psychology, culture, ecology, art, and science. I believe that our understanding of myth determines the quality of our present and will determine our future.

I also believe in the culture creating power of the artist to define our collective vision, and the curiosity and discernment of the self-determining individual to realize that vision. This is a time of transformation. We're in this process together.

I consult with artists drawn to the use of mythology in their work and creative process. I work with individuals in life-work transitions, who hear the call to a new or larger purpose. People in need of re-invention or renewal guided by a deeper relationship to self. People who need to reframe their questions or their story.

There's a source deep in the core of your consciousness that's waiting for you to rediscover it.

We often try to change our situation before we truly understand our place in it. We seek advice about the nuts and bolts before we grasp the desires or needs that drive us. Evaluation and goalsetting are important and yet getting to your truth, the essence of your dreams and challenges, requires a deep dive into your source. Your imagining self.

This is usually easier to accomplish with a guide and witness.

When do you feel alive? What is the quality of your inner life?

The imaginal, mythic dimension is the source of your aliveness. Your inner compass. Your sense of purpose and wisdom. Your intuition. Your belonging. Your faith in life and the mystery.

My personal and professional explorations have taken me in a variety of directions. Jungian, archetypal, ecological and transpersonal psychology. Storytelling and the healing arts of craft, dreamwork, ritual, somatics, entheogens, and writing. The wisdom traditions of Vipassana meditation, breathwork, and solitude in nature.
