“when time’s skin is thin and you are
bared – when there is nothing
between you and the Wildest One
whose name is your own?”
― Beth Morey, Night Cycles: Poetry for a Dark Night of the Soul
For centuries, around the world, “The Divine,” has primarily meant “God.” Male images of “God” have dominated Western culture in particular, for a very long time. He is an important figure in the patriarchy and yet She is present, embodying the irrepressible energy of life, creation, and renewal.
Maybe you know her. Maybe you would like to meet her or deepen your relationship.
There are many books and courses on the goddess and goddess culture, pagan circles, practices, and other tools available to help you find her for yourself but it’s not easy to make this shift from “Him” to “Her” a lived experience of heart, soul, spirit and Self, or to include Her in your God-based religious practice.
Change this fundamental requires time to reflect, conscious exploration of personal values and attitudes, a willingness to experiment and practice, imagination, and respectful support. This is the purpose of The Female Face of the Divine.
In our time together, we’ll consider some of Her essential attributes and how they relate to our life experience. We’ll to deepen our understanding and connection with Her as contemporary women. We’ll create ways to bring awareness of the Goddess into daily life.
Our guides and tools will include:
- the ancient Sumerian myth of the Goddess Inanna
- journal work and meditation
- ritual and artwork
- conversation
- the magic that arises in a circle of women.
We will also have use of the labyrinth, medicine wheel, and heated pool and spa at the Joshua Tree Retreat Center. We’ll be in the glorious desert and under the beautiful night sky at a powerful, liminal time of the year.
If you are already grounded in a spiritual/personal paradigm, come move deeper into your vision. If all of this is new to you—welcome! She is an opening into the Divine for any person, of any gender or race or belief system, and a way to deeper communion with the world and your Self.
Thou art Her. Come explore what this means for you.
The workshop will be limited to 24 women. We’ll meet Friday evening from 7-9pm. Saturday all day 9am-5pm with lunch included. Sunday 9am-1pm.
You are encouraged to stay at the retreat center make the best use of this time and the retreat setting.Registration closes Friday October 26th.
