mitm-podcast-image-mojo-websiteStorytelling and conversation about mythology, and why it’s important for our lives today.

The old stories have survived centuries of retelling because they contain valuable information about the world and human experience.

They contain answers that people have found to the mysterious questions of life, and they can help us find our way today.

Each episode of Myth Matters revolves around an ancient myth, fairy tale, or wisdom story from cultures around the globe. Catherine uses her knowledge of mythology and psychology to provide insight into the contemporary meaning and help you do your own work with the story.

Work with stories is a unique and powerful way to open the heart, provoke the mind, and stimulate the imagination.

Gain a different perspective on your life and the world. Learn a new way to think, create, thrive, and transform in these best (and worst) of times.

The “Myth Matters” podcast was offered under the name “Myth in the Mojave” for 6 years and 127 episodes are available under that name.

Thanks for listening and keep the mystery in your life alive.

About your Myth Matters host: Catherine began her professional life as a public interest advocate and environmental organizer. Frustrated and puzzled by the slow progress, she left this form of activism with a question: How can reasonable people argue over facts and obvious common sense, and disagree about what is healthy and fair?

The conversation, debate, and conflict is a matter of myth and stories about the world, not “facts.” If we want change, any kind of change, the process must begin with a change in story… that leads to a change in thinking… that leads to action.

Catherine’s work with mythology is an extension of her activism, of her love for the earth and desire to empower people. She creates this podcast to answer the questions that most concern her, as an American woman in the 21st century:

  • How can the old myths connect us to a larger sphere of being?
  • How can they help us find our way back into the world, into history, into conversation with the Other?
  • How can consciousness of mythology and myth-making reinvigorate our collective imagination and liberate us from the lonely world of dead things and soulless commodities that we’ve created?
  • How can a new relationship to our myths and myth-making usher the human race into a sustainable, life-based future?

How can we live more creatively and keep the mystery in life alive?
