Psyche’s Quest: A mythic exploration of the Heroine’s Journey for women
Friday April 24th– Sunday April 26th, 2026
Woodstock, NY location
2-day intensive workshop with mythologist & storyteller Catherine Svehla Ph.D.
You probably know something about the “Hero’s Journey,” Joseph Campbell’s brilliant revelation of a mythic pattern that continues to shape our lives— or rather, men’s lives.
The relative absence of a clear narratives is a disappointment and an opportunity. As women, it’s up to us to explore and honor our life experience. To define ourselves. To articulate what we know, feel, value, and dream.
We can determine the meaning of our lives, uncover the contours of our quest, define our purpose, and tell our story. The heroine’s journey.
In this 2-day experiential workshop we’ll map the journey together, drawing on the ancient myth of Eros and Psyche. This old story opens the heart and mind. It’s a powerful catalyst for the imagining that moves a woman forward. We’ll also utilize the power of journaling and art work, meditation, and conversation.
Consider where you’ve been and what lies ahead, aided by a magical circle of women.
We will gather Friday evening from 7-9 pm and all-day Saturday 9am- 5pm. Sunday we begin again at 9am and finish at 1pm.
The company of other women provides the support many of us crave. The Psyche’s Quest workshop will be limited to 18 women to ensure the integrity of our process, because every place, every gathering, and every woman is unique.
Workshop tuition of $285 includes registration and materials, Saturday lunch, and beverages and snacks throughout.

Words from past participants in Psyche’s Quest:
“This workshop feels like an initiation and necessary reflection, to experience growth, motivation, and gratitude…. a moment to recalibrate and redirect, to feel heard and understood by other women in an important way, without judgment and with support.“ Marcella Kroll, Artist and Mystic
“Catherine creates an environment that is both “safe” and challenging. Every moment is an invitation and Catherine’s commitment to the magic and mystery of this work stirred a lot in me and helped the group.” Ellen Sagmyr, Experiential Educator, Life Coach
“This was one of the most useful workshops I’ve ever taken. I could have spent 3-5 days with you and the group, honestly. Thank you!” Aditi Khorana, Author, Speaker, Teacher
“Any woman wanting to have a greater impact in the world in these uncertain times should give herself the gift of Catherine’s workshop.” Kareen Erbe, Food Grower, Permaculture Educator
“We are inundated with self-help and lots of noise. This workshop is grounding and brings the clarity to listen to what we need to listen to and discern our own path through it.” Bet Heykoop, Stunt Driver
“I encourage other women to attend this workshop because we don’t have enough opportunities to explore and question our cultural set of expectations, especially in the safety of a women-only discussion. Catherine is a remarkable facilitator with a great sense of the energy flow of the group.” Celene de Miranda, Non-denominational wedding minister, certified ASL interpretor
“I loved the feeling of being held in a powerful, safe, elevated, female space. It’s useful to have a deeper-than-human-truth type of understanding about what a ‘journey’ looks like for a woman. And Catherine is incredible.” Amanda Abraham, Wellness Coach
“Down, down deep into the well that is my own true source,
deeper and deeper, emerging on the other side—
a woman, alive with her hands full of gold.”
